Economic Immigration & Taxation

Cyprus has a market economy dominated by the services sector, which represents eighty per cent of the local economy. The most important sectors are tourism, financial services and real estate. Despite recent economic setbacks, namely in the financial sector, the country is undergoing financial and structural reforms, including the privatization of state-owned enterprises.

Cyprus offers one of the most attractive tax systems in Europe, including a transparent tax regime that is fully compliant with EU laws and regulations. Dividend income and profits from the sale of securities are exempt from tax. Also, there is no withholding tax on dividend and interest paid from Cyprus. Most international transactions are exempt from value-added tax. Cyprus has a network of double taxation agreements with more than 48 countries. Additionally, Cyprus has access to EU Directives that focus on reducing or eliminating foreign withholding taxes.
